A few days ago Ryan asked me to post the full picture from which the masthead is drawn. Here 'tis.

To Sleep, Perchance to Dream

Last night I dreamed about going to sleep, and today is off to a bad start because the alarm woke me up in the middle of a dream wherein I was angry and humiliated because I had gone to an Anarchist's Club meeting and someone had thrown stuff at me and it hurt, and I woke up thinking, "No, I won't be back! Someone needs to teach you anarchists how to behave!"

!?!

Then there was an enormous centipede in the bathroom (For real, not a dream). Le sigh. And I have read tooooo many articles in the last month about people whose lives have been ruined by health care costs, and it makes me want to never have kids or get sick and I should probably just lie down and die right now, before it becomes too expensive to do so. Arghhh.

Poetry tonight at the mysterious "Corner Store," a little place near where I live that appears to be (part of) someone's home, but also is used for various artistic gatherings from time to time. I have never been in there before, so the reading will provide a good neighborhood exploration opportunity. Tina Darragh, Cathy Eisenhower, and Ruth Lepson will be reading, and I expect many DC poet folks will be in attendance. We are often very scarce to each other in the summertime, so this will be a good opportunity to catch up with all and sundry. Whoo!

Uwe Boll and the Apricot

This was a phrase that sang itself to me in a dream last night. I woke up with the idea in my head, followed by "Whaaat?" I couldn't remember who Uwe Boll was. I thought for a while that he must be that guy who bends spoons. Turns out that's Uri Geller. Uwe Boll is a director of unpopular movies. Neither of these fellows appears to have anything to do with apricots, save that they both exist simultaneously in a world that also contains apricots.

My sleep was very welcome; I slept hardly at all on Sunday night. Sunday night was notable for (1) no sleep, (2) seeing the space shuttle/international space station go tearing overhead around 9:30 (Jeff and I went up on the roof to look for it, and lo! There it was), and (3) watching The 13th Warrior on instant Netflix. That movie was incredibly silly, but was not directed by Uwe Boll.

Anyway, I spent yesterday in a zombie-like stupor, and wound up going to bed at 8:30, like a nine year old. As a result, I have TOO MUCH ENERGY today. Getting done all kinds of things. Whee!
