I have another cold.

Last night, I dreamed that I was in a poetry workshop with Gabriel Gudding, Clark Coolidge, and Tom Raworth. The entire workshop was themed around "Batman" poems. Clark and Gabe were critiquing my poem. Gabe liked it, but Clark complained that "it didn't work on the level of the sentence" -- he didn't like where the periods were, and thought that the poem as it was had no flow. Tom looked like he wanted both of them to shut up so we could all go do something else.

I haven't written in a while. I am trying to do something here. I am studying poets I admire. I am hoping to get to something new, some synthesis of what I am reading and what I want to say. But what do I want to say? I have ideas, I have been thinking them over, but I am still at a stage where, when I try to write things down, it is like a chorus of people with all the emotional and intellectual spectrum of an 8-color crayon box have taken over my head. I'm working my way up to 64 colors and the in-box sharpener, that's what I'm doing.

I've been. . . reviewed. Hearing that someone has reviewed your poetry is always a bit like finding out they're doing a SURPRISE INSPECTION OF YOUR COLON at work today. Aiieee! In this case, it is like having that happen, but then finding out that the inspection was (a) painless, (b) has revealed that your colon is made of stars and (c) here is a nice lollipop for being so good!

YAY.

Today I lugged a big bag of tinysides (already in addressed envelopes) to work. They will be slowly filtering into the U.S. postal system over the course of the day.
