Rise from your tedious slumbers, corporate cogs! Collect your dissipated senses, o underemployed wastrels! Cease your caviling, o congresscritters! Now is the time for all good/bad/indifferent men to come to the aid of the Burlesque!
This Monday, at 8 p.m., at the wondrous Bar Rouge (just north of the mysterious leyline of 16th and O, N.W.), Jennifer L. Knox, Aaron Belz, Peter Davis and Michael Schiavo will read poems. Your mind may very well melt into a sticky, hypercolored blob, not unlike a melted crayon or a lollipop abandoned by a cruel and whimsical toddler.
Assisting with the ceremonies will be, as always, Reb Livingston in her guide as Gilda. This night only, I will be teaming up with her, allowing Carmen, one of my rotating cast of multiple personalities, to come to the fore, and urge the poets, per the usual for this kind of event, to "take it off!"
It's free, it's mind-blowing, and the District hasn't even outlawed it yet. So, come on down and get a snifter of poetry insanity -- or face the wrath of Carmen!
