My new kicks make me look like an android ninja. Which I am.

I watched big shiny robots totally beat the crap out of each other while delivering Manichean platitudes on the worth of humanity and then I bought new shoes.

Today is cool and breezy. This is probably true of ninety-five percent of Newport summer days. There is a phoebe calling outside the window. Something I have not mentioned previously is that this summer, Capitol Hill has been invaded by an army of slate-sided juncos. They are everywhere. I will see them tomorrow, when I return to the land of poliical intrigue and 1000% humidity.
Here, seagulls are everywhere. Also many robins, and flowers that have already stopped blooming three hundred miles to the south. I took many arty flower photos yesterday. Today we will eat the strawberries we picked yesterday, and also lots of meat. Most importantly, my sister and I are going to see Transformers. In the meantime, we are annoying the world by telling everyone that things are more than meets the eye.

If Ryan keeps being me, though, he's eventually gonna have to go to work. Sucker!

So, I'm up in Rhode Island. I have smelled the salt breeze. I have eaten a bowl of clam chowder. I have seen that which is scrimshawed offered for sale. I have learned that the price of the crabs is "NON-NEGOTIABLE!!!"
I'll be back in the District on Thursday afternoon, and will proceed immediately to work on building up my pre-party beverage and snack stock. In the meantime, I am devoted to nothing greater than picking strawberries, reading mystery novels, and having long and mostly imaginary staring contests with the local gulls.
