It is 2:30 on Saturday afternoon. My hellish brief has been filed; I managed to stay up until midnight last night and snag a Harry Potter from Rod; I read until 3:30, fell asleep until 9:30, and now I am done. I am reasonably well satisfied, if from nothing else, than from the feeling that I have completed various marathons. A day and a half of pure freedom are spread before me like a blossoming prairie. Also, I have the new Gogol Bordello album. Huzzah!

Four hours' sleep is a cruel joke.

"Oh. I guess that was a scab. I thought it was Tandoori sauce."

We're at 17.5 hours, and I think I'm going home. We have been efficient. All night, all shmight. There is the fact that I'm due back at 6:45, though...

We're comin' up on Billable Hour 14 here, people, and I'm gettin' punchy! Case in point:

Me, in jeans and tshirt, wandering the halls, spouting Hamlet's soliloquy, while brandishing a large hoe (we have a client who makes tool products), and then announcing to no one: "I'm quoting Shakespeare! I'm heavily armed! I'm my own Clockwork Orange and ya just better get outta my way!"

Whoo! Will the old ultraviolence descend upon us? Stay tuned...

Wow

Let's go to Paris!

(Not safe for those not down with homoerotic rugby action. I hope that's none of you, but if it is, you've been warned!)

Tomorrow will be an allnighter...or mostly. With any luck, I'll get to leave around two or three am for a few hours snoozing and then be back in the office to see the brief into the agency. After that? Well, I plan on going to Bridge Street to hang out in a sleepless daze until Harry Potter time! Having secured the book, I will take it home and either continue my sleep-deprived madness as I read the whole thing through, or more likely, fall asleep clutching it, and then awake and spend the entirety of Saturday curled up in bed, unwashed and gnarly, speed reading through 780-odd pages of wizardly potboiler.

And then I will go get dinner.

Scarcity Equals Value: A Lesson in Poetry Economics

Any tinyside naysayers out there would do well to pay attention, if simply for the rate of return: the little buggers appreciate. T-Bills? 401-K? Money market? Soros-esque currency speculation? Pshaw. Tinysides are the responsible poet's investment vehicle of choice.

My "Decline and Fall" mix CD is almost ready. I'll be taking a draft incarnation of it into work tomorrow for a full listen. Frustrating that you can only fit 80 minutes of music on the damn things...there must be longer CDs out there.

One Swank Private School

I swear I just overheard one of my bosses saying his kid's science class dissected a panda.

It's been thirteen hours and -- yes! -- I am still totally in the office! No end in sight! Whoo!

In less thrilling news, all tinyside orders went out today. I have been extremely lazy about mailing them; they've all piled up in a giant mountain in a box in my office, but today they were ferried off to the mailroom, and should be wending their way out to you all as we speak (type) (read) (insert verb of your choice here).

It's totally AWESOME when there is less than 10 hours difference between the time you leave work and the time you find yourself back in your office. It's gonna be sweet when I crash (approximatley six p.m. on Friday -- I will spend the weekend in a restorative coma).
