Last night, the Bass Girls came into Angles. Two kilt-clad beer promotion fairies, standing a round, complete with promotional pint glasses, for all and sundry. We discussed whether we were more or less likely to drink bass in the future. There was by no means a unanimity of opinion. My cohort and I may already be too old to have our future beer choices swayed by girls in kilts.

Totally unaltered. Not made up. See here for proof.
And, here's today's advice from the Caped Crusader:
"Oda wabba simba. Six o'clock in our nomenclature. In the 14th dynasty, the hour of the hyena. The time when ancient Egyptian supercriminals invariably struck!"

Happy May Day! You can either celebrate the communist kind or the pagan kind. It's two holidays in one!
And Happy Freedom-from-NaPoWriMo Day! Yes, another year is past. But you can totally keep writing poems if you want to. None of us will intervene. It can be NaPoWriYear!

This article is horrible. Exquisitely so. It is a perfect storm.

I got some earrings on Saturday at Eastern Market. For free. I can't figure out if I got them because of a volume discount (I bought some other things from the same guy) or a cute discount (actually wearing makeup; spent more than 20 seconds picking out clothes). The guy spent some arguably unnecessary time making small talk, thus further confusing the matter.
Anyway, free earrings!
I am also sporting the totally non-sexiest sock tan in America (souvenir of last weekend's experiment in roasting my calves on the balcony). Consider it part of my ongoing effort to have you love me for my personality.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Nat'l Poetry Month's greatest triumph, Evil Hamsters. It might be worth settling down and having kids if they turn out like this.

If you are, like me, established in Das Kapitol, you should be putting on your poetry shoes to celebrate the last day of NaPoWriMo with a reading by Jordan Davis, Mairead Byrne, and Ali Stine Davis, as this month's installment of the Burlesque Poetry Hour. 8 pm at Bar Rouge.
And if you are, unlike me, established far to the north, in the Apple that is Noticeably Larger than Comparable Apples, you should be preparing yourself for the morrow, when the Four-Faced Liar (165 W. Fourth St, for those of you who can't already find your way there in your sleep) will be hosting a release party for Shafer Hall's Never Cry Woof. 8:30 - 12:30 PM, featuring music from Alex Battles' Whisky Rebellion and special guests Matt Henriksen and Brownbird Rudy Relic.
