Okay, last night was not so bad, and this morning isn't either, although I note that my first impulse upon waking was to stamp a giant blue stamp of a dancing elephant wearing a business suit on my arm.

I have a feeling tomorrow's gonna be hellish until I get some bacon and waffles and suchlike into me, but until then I'm listening to the Cut Chemist and watching all the letters on the keyboard jostle subtly out of shape.

I will try to catch up on NaPoems tomorrow. Also: old guys of the world! No, you do not have a chance. Sorry. No chance.

The Lawyers, Scene One: Funny Ha-Ha or Funny Werewolves-Feasting-On-Your-Soul?

Overheard at work today:

"So the real question is whether that two percent is from the Transdniester!"

Laughter all around.

Word to My Mother

Alive. Not dead! Not disemboweled by serial killers or washed down a storm drain or derailed or executed or anything. But I have a blister. Boo hoo.

Up to NYC and back tomorrow. I am tempted to move back there, except I would have to find a job, and here I can make money just by blinking. You should come visit me, NYC! I have a big bed, and a bunch of air mattresses, and I can sleep on the couch, because it is exactly as long as I am, and I have already practiced sleeping on it!

Growing on my windowsill: peas, squash, cukes. Only the runner beans remain aloof. O beans, what will it take to make you sprout?

Out on the balcony: assorted cacti, basil, another squash, green beans.

Listening to Fats Domino and British Power Pop. My superpower is rocking out.

UPDATE: Switched to the Old 97s and from there to some crazy J-Pop. Still pretty much rocking out.

Today's NaPoem got an A in AP Physics, but sadly never lived up to its potential. Instead it dropped out of college and got an associate's degree in revenge.

What's Not to Love?

Lt. Torolf Magnusson and his team of Navy SEALs have gone back in time to eleventh-century Norselands on a search-and-destroy mission, but when they find they've landed in the middle of a sanctuary-filled with women-well, hoo-yah! Their plans are put on hold, much to the distress of Hilda, the head of the sanctuary. At first resistant to Torolf's pursuits, she soon succumbs to his passionate advances. But with victory in sight for Torolf, Hilda must face the fact that their love may not survive the test of time.

A pretty decent/productive weekend. Obtained a six of Leinenkugel's somehow. Their slogan is "The Pride of Chippewa Falls." My slogan for them is "It Smells Like Dad!" I am hatching a plan to make a pair of earrings out of Leinie's bottlecaps.

Also got a sunburn by sitting on my balcony with my legs up on the bannister -- managed to turn my left calf a delightful strawberry-koolaid color. I'm looking forward to about three days from now, when I predict that the skin on my leg will come off in one giant sheet.

Did up a new set of Big Game holiday cards; got the rest of the Tiny Moon Notebook run bagged and ready to mail, and worked up a class on "Poetic Mischief" that I will give on Thursday at Purchase college. I also attended an Ultimate Frisbee game, did some editing and organizing on Applies to Oranges, wrote some NaPoems, and plowed through some Nero Wolfe novels.

Today I am going to work work work and then take off early to go teach a class on DIY publishing over at GW. Huzzah!
