I did not read many poetry books over the course of 2009 (I was busy getting married and being lazy and reading lots of books about neuroscience, blah blah blah), and thus I am too late for all the various roundups of Poetry Book Recommendations for 2009, etc., but I thought I would post my top 4. And they are all by the ladies! O wondrous ladies!

In no real or particular order:

Dick of the Dead by Rachel Loden
Hyperglossia by Stacy Szymaszek
Bluets by Maggie Nelson
Satin Cash by Lisa Russ Spaar

Also I have been reading Caroline Knox books at a fair clip but she frustrates me and delights me in equal proportions, so I am not sure whether to recommend her or just say AAGHGHTHAGHTHAHHHHHHH!
