Having rented out my room, I now face the flip-side of apartment hell, looking for my own place. Last time I tried to find an apartment in DC, I felt like the red-headed stepchild. As a law student, I was that most dreaded entity -- the person without a real job.

So far I've just been calling people trying to set up appointments to see various apartments, but this time around it's not so bad -- you would be amazed how previously grouchy people perk up when your answer to "What do you do?" is "I'm a lawyer." It's like apartment magic!
