Nice rejection letter from university journal today. Nice in that a rejection certifies that the submission was actually received, and nice in that it included a little handwritten note and a lot of scribbling with colored pencil over my poems, involving many arrows. This was probably because the new poetry editor turns out to be someone I was in a workshop in undergrad with, and who felt I therefore should get a note and some attention, instead of the standard dis (Honestly, the poems were a little sucky . . . I had "new poem delirium" when I sent them in . . .) . But I just checked out the masthead, and another person I went to undergrad with is now on the journal staff. It's The Attack of the Former Hoos! Watch as they all succumb to the MFA temptation!
