Checking in after a fun weekend out and about with Marcus Aurelius. I've written just over forty "translation" poems, and upped my language quotient to nine...I've reworked poems in Russian, Serbian, Polish, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, Corsican, and Dutch. Now I must go through them and figure out what ought be jettisoned straight away, what's worth re-working, and what's close to done. Marcus helped me a little; I like seeing what he likes...he tends to favor poems that are straightforward and/or funny. He thought he would like Spanish poems the most, but I thought he would like Russian and Serbian ones...and in fact, of his top twenty, twelve are from Russian or Serbian. Only one is from the Spanish. Spanish is just too surreal.
I've got a cover design, which I'll probably post tonight. But before I start printing out chapbooks, I'm going to try my luck at sending a few of the poems off to magazines. Whee!
